Frequently asked questions

Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab grown diamond is a true diamond in every sense, identical in brilliance, composition and durability to one formed in the earth. The difference lies only in its origin, created with precision rather than extracted through excavation.

How are Maison Solitaire diamonds created?

Our diamonds are cultivated using the most advanced methods, faithfully recreating the natural conditions that give birth to a diamond. This process spares the earth the disruption and scars left by mining.

What is the HPHT method?

HPHT stands for High Pressure High Temperature, a process that mirrors the elemental forces within the earth where diamonds are born. A small diamond seed is placed within a chamber and surrounded by pure carbon. Subjected to immense pressure and intense heat, the carbon crystallises around the seed, growing into a diamond of remarkable purity and brilliance. The outcome is a true diamond, identical to one formed over millennia beneath the earth’s surface, yet created without excavation or disruption.

Can one distinguish between a lab grown and a mined diamond?

Not with the naked eye. Even experts require sophisticated equipment to determine origin. To you, and to those you love, it will simply be a diamond, luminous, enduring and true.

Do Maison Solitaire diamonds come with a certification?

Yes. Each stone is independently graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI), attesting to its cut, colour, clarity and carat. This ensures the same exacting standard applied to the rarest mined diamonds, without the burden of their extraction.

What is the cvd method?

CVD diamonds are created by placing a small diamond seed in a sealed chamber filled with carbon rich gases. These gases are activated under controlled temperature and pressure, allowing carbon atoms to slowly deposit on the seed and grow a pure diamond crystal. This process produces Type IIA diamonds, known for their exceptional purity, colorless appearance and minimal inclusions.Maison Solitaire chooses CVD for our center stones because it offers: • Superior control over color and clarity • Diamonds that are free from metallic impurities • A sustainable, energy efficient process • Precision growth that results in outstanding brilliance and symmetry

What type of appointment do I book?

We recommend booking a virtual consultation with one of our founders or a jewellery consultant. How should I care for my lab grown diamond jewellery?

We recommend caring for your jewellery regularly to maintain its brilliance. Soak it for a few minutes in a bowl of warm water with a few drops of mild liquid soap. Gently brush it with a soft toothbrush, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry with a clean lint free cloth. Store each piece separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratches and preserve its shine for years to come.

Can lab grown diamonds lose their sparkle over time?

Lab grown diamonds do not lose their sparkle or fade with time. Like all fine jewellery, they may collect natural oils or dust that can slightly dull their surface. With gentle regular cleaning and occasional professional maintenance, your diamond will continue to shine with the same brilliance as the day you received it.
